TRANSCRIPT

Hello lovely creative and welcome to 'Light Up Your Creative Joy - rekindle your creative spark in seven days.' So the first thing I want to say is thank you so much for coming on this journey with me.

My intention is that by the end of this experience you'll feel more inspired, you'll feel more connected to the things that really light you up inside, and you'll feel more confident, taking that knowledge about what you're passionate about, and using that to guide you in your creative future.

But before we begin, I want to talk about a few things that I think are important. So the first one is, this is a guided journey in that I have created activities that I believe will be useful and helpful to you as a creative person who wants to rekindle that creative spark.

and rediscover where your real passions lie. However, if anything doesn't feel right to you, if you're not enjoying it or it's not interesting for you, then by all means just skip it. You are under no obligation to do every step and I would always encourage you not to do things that just don't feel aligned with where you are right now.

Secondly, please give this what you have to give it. So, if you can give it 5 minutes, give it 5 minutes. If you can give it 30 minutes, then great, give it 30 minutes. But, beyond that, it's probably more than is necessary because the whole point of these activities is that they are short and easy and that they're just simple ways for you to play and reconnect with your creativity.

And I know, as someone who's a perfectionist, I have a tendency to want to do everything really thoroughly and really properly, but often that actually leads to procrastination, or my perfectionism causes me to avoid just doing the work and then moving on. And I don't want anybody to get stuck there, because I know how difficult that can be.

Next I just wanted to very briefly tell you why I made Light Up Your Creative Joy, and that's because my experiences as an artist for over 16 years and a creativity coach have shown me that a lot of the time we're actually working on our creative practice Doing things that really aren't right for us anymore and we're not passionate about.

So that might be for example something that we did in the past but we've moved on, we still feel like we have to do it out of a sense of obligation. Or it could be something that people in our lives who we care about are telling us that we should do. Or maybe it's that we've got messages from wider culture or social media saying, That we should be this kind of artist, or we should be this kind of creative, and that's misguided us and led us to something that just isn't right for our unique personality and brain.

As a neurodivergent, multi-passionate creative, I have been down all of the wrong roads, taking paths that other people told me were the right one or that I felt that I should go down, and I've now realized that if we're not passionate about things, if we're not interested in things, if they don't light us up inside, It's an unsustainable path for us to take because we need that internal motivation, that intrinsic motivation, to overcome the challenges and the hurdles and keep that motivation up so we can get to the point of finishing things and sharing things with the world.

So that's where Light Up Your Creative Joy came from, like a desire to make something that was a first step in opening that door of asking the question, what really does light me up inside as a creative person?

So I really hope it does bring that to you. And now let's move on to day one, our first prompt.

I will see you there. Bye bye.
