Unfortunately, these days we live in a culture that is truly obsessed with being a celebrity ‘star’, and this seeps into the arts as it does everybloodywhere else.
But as an enthusiastic amateur stargazer with limited scientific knowledge, I can tell you some basics about stars that our culture seems to have missed…
Each star up there matters.
So called ‘small stars’ make up 75% of our own galaxy
(and the Milky Way galaxy consists of 100,000 million stars!)
Every single star burns brightly with it’s own specific life stage, colour and luminosity.
And the night sky is beautiful because they are all up there,
doing their thing.
so, How does this apply to you?

You might be an introvert who longs to create powerful work from the solace of your studio, but you really want to to share it in ways that won’t make you overwhelmed.

And of course your work means A LOT to you, because you have dedicated so much of yourself to your creativity.

Or maybe you find fulfilment in responding to a brief and seeing something that was once a few lines of text transform into a real project for people to use, experience or enjoy.

That’s bloody brilliant.
But also, if we’re being truth tellers here…
There can be some reeeaaallly challenging aspects to living this creative dream.
Showing up and sharing your work with the world can be tough.
Sticking to your own trajectory is hard when everyone and their granny seems to have ideas about how ‘what you should do is….’.
Meeting everyone else’s needs, doing all your different roles, pleasing your employers or keeping your customers happy can drain your every drop of energy.
And then your precious ‘making day’ often turns into relentless, boring, tedious admin…and you still haven’t gotten round to updating your website.
…and then the self-doubt creeps in
and whispers it’s malicious messages at you, like;
'Is it…you?
Are you just are too sensitive, too weird, too shy, or too much to be a success at this?
Maybe you need change who you are for this to work?’
Plus all that ‘helpful’ advice from those around you who don’t understand
the bravery and resilience it takes to show up every. single. day. as
a sensitive person trying to make a living in a difficult industry.
Lovely creative, it is not you who is ‘wrong’.
It’s a broken system that sensitive creative people struggle to thrive in,
and even worse it’s full of people telling you that you have to push yourself harder,
make yourself tougher and work yourself to the bone…
because that’s how THEY navigated the system.
And as a highly sensitive person, it’s likely any cookie cutter strategies aren’t going
to meet you needs, which is why I offer HSP conscious creativity coaching.

I’m Eleanor (but you can call me Ellie!) I’m an artist and creativity coach with 15 years experience in sharing the creative process with thousands of people.
I’m also a highly sensitive creative who knows how difficult it can be to market your work, be visible online, overcome fears around networking and the many other challenges of being a sensitive artist. But with this experience I’ve come to see my sensitivity as one of my biggest strengths.
I’ve been a self-employed artist since 2009 and my own journey has included:
- Working as a full time artist, sharing my own artwork through exhibitions, residencies, funded projects and through selling work online.
- Gaining qualifications in art up to MA level, in counselling skills, and as a teacher and trainer for people aged 16+ in the arts.
- Working as a creative practitioner teaching art and craft subjects for people of all ages including in formal education, community and adult education, for museums, galleries and arts organisations.
I support sensitive creatives to embrace who they are,
find the approaches that work with their personality,
and learn to trust themselves on their creative path so they
can make what really matters to them.
What does
HSP conscious
creativity coaching
look like?
This is a coaching programme specifically designed for sensitive creatives. It will help you to move forwards with the business in ways that both benefit your longer term goals and don’t cause you overwhelm in the present, because your well-being is at the centre of the whole process.
You will look at where you dream of taking your business, your creative work and the life you long to live. We’ll explore which choices, approaches and actions would support that. But through each of these steps we’ll acknowledge how these might impact you and what can be done to reduce overwhelm or decision fatigue.
This doesn’t mean you won’t need to consider some difficult questions, or do the work! There will be challenging moments. But we’ll gently address the difficult areas together because I believe transformation doesn’t need to be traumatic.
I also strive to make as much of the process as creative as possible for you! We’ll look at what mediums or techniques you enjoy, and devise activities that will bring something to you as the creative being you are.
This forms the foundations of
‘Stellar Sensitive Creatives’!
What will the
outcomes of
creativity coaching
be for you?
The outcomes will be unique, as you are unique!
But it could mean realising you don’t need to ‘fix’ yourself, so you can show up as the incredible person you are. To share your off-beat humour, or beautiful weirdness, or powerful values.
It could mean creating that work that’s been whispering in your ear but you’ve struggled to give yourself permission to make.
It could mean asking for your fee to be increased (just as you blooming well know deep down you deserve!) so you can give that project your focus, make something you are proud of and have the weekend to do whatever you damn well please.
You could even choose to do what makes you happy just because you want to (and working out how this could contribute to your creative career vision!)

I know these days there can be a fear of investing into your business unless you know the money will come back. I’m a creativity coach, not a business coach, so I will never use money as the marker of success as I know it’s just ONE part of a successful career.
BUT I do believe that to have success as a creative it is essential to build a business that works with you. True success and joy just cannot be built on foundations that make you stressed, unhappy or overwhelmed. And I have a lot of experience, having run my own creative business for 15 years.

Develop funding applications to help support your creative development and make the work you dream of. Escape the trap of doing work that doesn’t pay sufficiently in money or meaning!
Plus all sorts of other WONDERFULLY useful things I wish I had known a decade ago!
How do we do this?
In these open ended sessions you’ll reflect on what is and isn’t working, what you want to carry forward and leave behind, and what you dream of achieving in your work. You’ll identify clear approaches, all recorded for you in note form to refer to at any time in the future.
You’ll have a full working day to send text messages or leave voice messages where you can get clarification on things discussed in the sessions, ask for accountability in taking your next steps or just to check in and feel supported on your journey.
We bring it all together into a plan (visual or written, up to you!) focusing on a specific areas that need a more defined strategy ie. social media, sales, networking, web presence, funding, press coverage…I’ll also provide you with any useful worksheets or info I’ve prepared for other clients in these areas.
We have a final session a month later as an opportunity for you to reflect on how it’s working in practice and so you have support in deciding what could be tweaked or changed to work better for you!
PROGRAMME ELEMENTS
Identifying what matters to you - We’ll look at the whole picture together and use this as a foundation to work upon. You’ll define what success means to you, and voice your creative dreams.
Reframing your sensitivity - I’ll support you to look at how your sensitivity shows up in your creative work - both the challenges and the gifts. Let’s change those stories and look at the hidden power in your sensitive nature.
Addressing the challenges - We’ll look at the key challenges that are getting in the way right now. What do you need to move on from, and how can you let go? What could you change so it works better with you? We’ll find the things that will enable you to develop creative resilience and quite confidence.
Clear next steps - In our two hour strategy session we will bring together all the different elements you have discussed, and craft them into a helpful and actionable strategy you can follow in your work and on your journey to embracing who you are.
Moving forwards with support - The key progress of each session will be captured in journalling prompts or reflective worksheets. I’ll also create bespoke resources to support you, and share any relevant resources I have available. These will be given to you so you can access them whenever you need them in the future.
At the end of our work together you will have a written guide laying out what your path onwards from the programme will look like, and what your intentions are going forwards. You’ll be more accepting of yourself, know what works for you as an individual, understand how to avoid overwhelm and find more joy as your go forwards with your creative journey.

There can be a misunderstanding by coaches and business mentors that they have found the ‘key’, when in fact they have found the key for them (and those who think and behave like them).
